The Challenge
Primark's "Your Voice" survey surfaced a need: colleagues wanted to access their staff discount across more stores, not just their home store. This app was designed to address: Limited store-based discount access, insecure discount code-sharing, difficult login / account recovery, low usage of ZING despite heavy internal promotion.
Two rounds of usability testing were conducted - one in person across three stores using a low-fidelity prototype, and a follow-up remote session with a high-fidelity version to validate updates.
20 colleagues were tested in total across four locations, ensuring diverse feedback on app clarity, copy comprehension, and discount accessibility.
A service blueprint was developed after early testing revealed a major friction point: colleagues frequently struggled to log in, recover accounts, or even access the ZING platform - a critical insight that was not part of the original scope.
